Samsung-RIL rewrite will support STK commands (Sim Toolkit)?

Added by dl lud over 9 years ago

Hi everyone,

This is probably a question for Paul alone. According to the Samsung-RIL wiki page STK commands are either missing or disabled. Is that the reason why, despite being installed, the "SIM Tool Kit" app does not appear on the menu of a i9100? If so, are you planning to support STK commands on the Samsung-RIL rewrite you have been working on?

I was experimenting with a "magic" dual-SIM adapter as a way to circumvent the lack of Replicant support for a dual-SIM phone. I just found out that these adapters need a working SIM Tool Kit to switch between SIM cards. They have a mode named 007 which allows switching by calling 001 or 002, but that also doesn't work on i9100 + Replicant 4.2, probably due to some other missing feature in RIL.

Well that is indeed a missing feature. As far as I know, STK can be used to allow the SIM to setup calls, so I'm not sure we even want to support that, despite the fact that some operators use it for various things.
