Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 (AT&T)

Added by Wilheim Katastrof over 7 years ago

Greetings,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 AT&T version, apparently unlocked, with Android 2.3.6 installed. I thought I would be able to install Replicant on it because it is identical to the i9100 but I haven't been able to find any documentation on that.
I'm unable to update to Android 4 via the stock software's update tool and speculate that it may be related to using an older sim card (I will look into this with the provider.)
The reason I wanted to be at version 4 is that Cyanogenmod's guide is based off of that version. (I was looking to install Cyanogenmod since they have a version specific to the i777 but I would ultimately prefer Replicant.)

Is it possible to install the i9100 replicant on the i777? Or does it have to be treated like a totally separate device that needs to be evaluated & selected to have replicant ported to it.

As you can tell, I am new to smart phones and android. Though I have been using Archlinux solely for 5 years now.

Any information would be appreciated.

yeah, this isn't likely to happen. best thing to do, probably, is to buy an international version galaxy s2. make sure it is an i9100 before you buy it. that's the only currently supported version of the s2.
