Some help with a step by step guide

Added by Alexandre Rodrigues Vianna over 8 years ago

Hi, friends.

I'd like to install Replicant, Firefox OS and Cyanogenmod in a device Galaxy I9100.
But I have no experience and my English is weak, as you can realize.

I'm trying from a Trisquel system.
Following the guide of replincant.

First of all, I tried to install keys.

*Could you please verify the message above and say if it's ok? *
alevian@alevian-Lenovo-G480:~$ gpg --recv-key 4A80EB23
gpg: directory `/home/alevian/.gnupg' created
gpg: new configuration file `/home/alevian/.gnupg/gpg.conf' created
gpg: WARNING: options in `/home/alevian/.gnupg/gpg.conf' are not yet active during this run
gpg: keyring `/home/alevian/.gnupg/secring.gpg' created
gpg: keyring `/home/alevian/.gnupg/pubring.gpg' created
gpg: no keyserver known (use option --keyserver)
gpg: keyserver receive failed: bad URI
alevian@alevian-Lenovo-G480:~$ gpg --recv-key 4A80EB23
gpg: requesting key 4A80EB23 from hkp server keys.gnupg.net
gpg: /home/alevian/.gnupg/trustdb.gpg: trustdb created
gpg: key 4A80EB23: public key "Replicant project release key <>" imported
gpg: no ultimately trusted keys found
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1 (RSA: 1)

Tks!

The second question, of a long serie: my Galaxy must be rooted before I started followin the instructions of the guide?
Third question: If I follow the guide, will everything on my Galaxy be erased? Even Android 4.1.2?

I´m trying to search about other systems, but with so many information, I'm confused.

For instance, I can't understand some warnings: [[https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/I9100_Info
(]][[]]

So I'm afraid of destroiyng the device!

I'm collecting some videos and instructions: [[http://tentandoser.blogspot.com.br/2015/10/brincadeira.html]]

Thanks for reading!

Yes. You need to root your phone to install any mod.

And yes. Everything on your Galaxy S2 will be erased because you are installing a new operating system

You need to root your phone to install any mod.

This is a common misconception. Most devices can be flashed from their bootloader and do not require either the cooperation of the preinstalled system nor to gain root privileges on it.

Everything on your Galaxy S2 will be erased because you are installing a new operating system

This is not true either, the internal storage will be kept (read, what's on the "internal sdcard"). Only applications data will be erased when installing a new system on your device.

Thank you, Paul and other friends.

I have Android 4.1.2 in my S2 and I will try to install Replicant following instructions, with no root permitions.

I have to practise how to use heidmail.
