Problems with installation - libusbx couldn't open USB device

Added by Tom C about 8 years ago

Hi, I posted this below under a more obscure title and haven't had any success :-(

I have followed the step-by-step instructions to install the latest Replicant onto a Galaxy S2. The below is what I get when I come to use Heimdall to install the image, however I've just noticed the phone is actually a GT-I9100P - is this a slightly different model that doesn't work so well?

Thank you!

Please don't double post the same problem. Or please just refer to the original post next time: http://redmine.replicant.us/boards/3/topics/12381

So it seems you have an unsupported device. The I9100P is more or less the I9100 with NFC functionality.
AFAIK Heimdall doesn't explicitly support the I9100P (source: http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/) and also other people seems to have trouble with this device: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall/issues/43#issuecomment-27818784
So you had luck, not to soft-brick your device...

If you still want to try it, here is a success-story for putting CyanogenMod on the I9100P.
But don't expect that everything is working - especially if you using the Replicant Image(s).

Have fun, anyway.
