Best Method of External Flashing

I ended up with a hard brick after attempting to install a bootloader designed for the GT-I9300, since mine came with a SGH-T999N bootloader.
What is the best method to externally flash a phone like the GT-I9300? I have a cubieboard lying around, but I am not sure how I would go about writing the information with GPIO to the phone's memory. I heard of JTAG, but I don't really have any experience with it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I don't quite understand all you're talking about, but I'd suggest to follow Galaxy S 3 (I9300) Installation wiki
