Can't connect to cellular network on n7100: "Error while searching for networks."

1. I got a brand new n7100 and the first thing I did out of the box was put Replicant on it. But it wouldn't connect to the cellular network. I tried installing CyanogenMod, and it connected to the cellular network just fine. So I installed Replicant again and for a week or so it worked - I was making calls & transferring data over the GSM network fine. And then it stopped working again, no connection. So I tried putting Cyanogenmod back on it, and that still works fine in terms of connecting to the cellular network and making calls/data connection, but when I switch back to Replicant, it's still showing no connection at all, ever: "Error while searching for networks."
2. I've tried wiping from within the rom and within the recovery, but it doesn't do anything. The phone is encrypted and recovery can't mount the data folder anyway, which is kind of a separate issue I don't know how to get rid of encryption (?). I would think that a factory reset from within the running rom would get rid of encryption etc., but it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

1. Please provide logs: GettingLogs of the radio buffer. If this is actually and issue, you may want to open a ticket on our tracker. As far as I know, telephony on the Galaxy Note 2 (N7100) works well. However, encryption causes the device to be unstable. See: #849 (the problem was fixed in git and will be part of the next batch of Replicant 4.2 images). You can build a Samsung-RIL binary and push it to your device or ask me for one to push on IRC.
2. You cannot wipe data on an encrypted device, you have to format the whole partition using: format /data and /data/media (/sdcard) from mounts and storage. That will, of course, get rid of all the data that was on the internal storage as well.
