Description

In at least two cases, my Nexus S has shown at least one of four bars but

  • when an incoming call occurred, the phone did not ring,
  • when new voicemails were available, the phone did not display any indication, and
  • when an outgoing call was attempted, the phone eventually indicated that the Phone application was not responding.

Once I rebooted the phone, the voicemail indicator appeared and I was able to make and receive calls.

  • Target version set to Replicant 2.3

I encounter the very same issues (basically, nothing from the modem works but it still shows the operator and signal level) after a faulty SMS that will crash the RIL: that's issue #183 . The best way to make sure is to either take logs and send them back here or to see if this happens when sending an SMS, that will thus stay on a being sent state. You can also try to send another SMS message and see if it goes through or not.

Thanks for reporting.

Probably that SMS issue or another crash. Without knowledge about the precise nature of the crash, there isn't much we can do…

I've since upgraded to the 4.0 0002 images and the problem recurred. How can I collect more information to help pinpoint the crash? Should I file another issue?

See http://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/GettingLogs
Radio logs are the most important to collect but saving main logs could help, aside of the matching radio logs.

Thanks for the link. I've installed aLogcat and will capture and attach the logs the next time I notice the problem.
