3G isn't really viable anymore. my own SIM card stopped working for 3G last month and now im stuck on shitty 2G lol (N7100)

How can we speed this along? I have a very real possibility of some anon donors. You guys are the only project with the promise for us to finally have usable phones without SIM backdoor bullshit afaik

Do you guys need more people? What languages/expertise do you? What kind of money? Just curious, straight up, what do you need to get this LTE/4G suppoer out? I'm an engineer myself, so i get that stuff takes time, but we should be quicker i feel like.

Let me know some thoughts. We can talk privately if you want.

Hi there!

I don't really have the expertise to contribute to a project like Replicant, but I'm very interested in it nonetheless (and fully support it obviously).

The other phones on the market that I know of trying to use free software are Pinephone and the Librem 5. Neither one, AFAIK, is considered fully free (which I assume is why the FSF hasn't supported them). So I was curious: what free features don't these phones have that Replicant is trying to create?

If I had to guess,the main obstacles would be Bluetooth compatibility and the fact that the OS has to interface with the Qualcomm chip (which I believe are both patented and propeietary). But I'm curious about the specifics from people who actually know what they're talking about.
About the Replicant project: RE: How to backup efshttps://redmine.replicant.us/boards/33/topics/14594?r=15833#message-158332021-09-19T11:59:17ZFil Lupinfillupin@protonmail.com

Hi,
there is now a page describing how to backup EFS : https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/BackupTheEFS

However, I encountered a problem while following instructions:

$ adb shell "mount /dev/block/platform/*/by-name/EFS /efs"
$ adb pull /efs/ efs
/efs/: 31 files pulled. 2.6 MB/s (6353339 bytes in 2.310s)
$ adb shell "umount /efs"
$ adb shell "rmdir /efs" rmdir: /efs: Read-only file system
$ adb shell "cat /dev/block/platform/*/by-name/EFS > /EFS.img"
/system/bin/sh: can't create /EFS.img: Read-only file system

rmdir /efs does not work while mkdir /efs has worked, I wonder if it's a symptom for another issue

It works when replacing last line by
adb shell "cat /dev/block/platform/*/by-name/EFS > /sdcard/EFS.img"

To restore backup:

adb shell "cat /sdcard/EFS.img > /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/EFS"

About the Replicant project: Is replicant compatible with Sprint (US)?https://redmine.replicant.us/boards/33/topics/158222021-09-02T00:47:46ZLee Strobel

Hi,

I am a supporter of free software and I am interested in Replicant, but I have to admit that I have yet to make the switch away from Android. I had been hoping to try a Replicant phone when my current device (Samsung Galaxy S7) reached its end-of-life (which it now pretty much has); however, I was recently informed by Sprint that they are upgrading their whole network and that I will need to upgrade to a 5G-capable phone by the end of the year to be able to continue to use it.

So, is Replicant compatible with 5G? It seems to mostly support older models, so I assume probably not. Does that mean then that I wouldn't be able to use a Replicant phone with Sprint after they upgrade the network?

I'd really appreciate any advice on this.

Regards,

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Have you tried scaling previously the image you want to?
For instance with Gimp.

The measures are:

S2 480x800 px

S3 720x1280

Note2 720x1280 too.

Let me specify:

As of right now, when I select an image for wallpaper - I can only select a portion of the image to be displayed. This portion of the image gets even more cropped because of the "swipe between different desktops"-function.
I just use one "desktop" and would like to set a whole image as a wallpaper for that "one desktop".
