Added by julian Daich over 9 years ago

Hi,

I'm learning how to install Replicant in Samsung Galaxy S from Verizon. It comes with Android 2.2.2 and have no idea how to upgrade to 2.3¿ it is there a proccedure to flashing it using Ubuntu?¿ Any Android 2.3 image will work to install Replicant?

Sorry if the question is obvius for some of you, but all the information I find is confusing.

Best,

Julian

Update.

I just found that would be able to update having a valid account from Verizon, the origibal phone carrier of this phone. I do not have such account.

I also found that it is possible to flash Android 2.3 or Cyanogenmod 7 using Heimdall. Since the Replicant a Cyanogenmod guides tell about upgarde to Android 2.3 before trying to flash nothing, this infromation is confussing.

Best,

Julian

Are you sure the Verizon version is the GT-I9100? If not, it is not supported by Replicant and probably perhaps not by CyanogenMod. Please refer to the CyanogenMod instructions first or ask on general-purpose Android forums such as XDA for questions about updating the Android version.

Hi,

We succeded to upgrade to Android 2.3 by calling the Verizon customer service and activating an account at the Phone. Finally also instaled fascinatemtd form Cyanogenmod website, but know are struggled if Replicant will work in this phone.

It is Samsung Gallaxy S Fascinate, we understnad it is different from the I9100 and Replicant will not install properly.

Thanks,

Julian
