Installation problems with Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100G). Did I brick my device?

Added by Mzee Mzee almost 6 years ago

Hello guys,

I have a problem. I just attempted to install Replicant on Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100G) phone and followed the instructions here (https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/GalaxyS2I9100Installation). I came to the point where I had to flash the device with "heimdall flash --KERNEL path/to/recovery-i9100.img", which worked well. But unfortunately my device doesn't boot anymore after this step. All I can see is the Samsung logo "Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100G" showing all the time.

Any help is really appreciated as I have to rely on my phone for my daily work and hope I didn't just brick it. Thank you very much in advance!

Hi,

unfortunately the I9100G is completely different phone compared to I9100, see http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-i9100-galaxy-s-ii-vs-samsung-i9100g-galaxy-s-ii-know-the-differences-table/. Replicant won't work without somebody first porting it for the phone. So if you want to "unbrick" your phone you need to find some other ROM (maybe the original Samsung ROM is available somewhere or there is some unoffical lineageOS ROM you trust?).

Thank you very much for your reply Joonas Kylmälä. Unfortunately, that's exactly what I feared already. Now, I'll have to look for the original Samsung ROM again to fix this. Too bad nobodoy ported Replicant to I9100G yet.
