Found a Nexus S in my drawer, about to install Replicant 4.2

Any gotchas? In particular, should I install the latest version of CyanogenMod first? One story I read seemed to suggest so.
Anyway, I plan to disable the modem following the procedure at
https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/ModemDisable
and to enable WiFi using a procedure similar to the one described here
https://manurevah.com/blah/en/p/Replicant-6-Enabling-Wifi-on-Galaxy-2-i9100
for the Galaxy S2. According to this page
https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/DeprecatedNexusSProprietary
the WiFi firmware files for my device are
fw_bcm4329.bin
fw_bcm4329_apsta.bin
nvram_net.txt
Does it suffice to simply copy these files over (to /system/vendor/firmware) to enable WiFi?
