HELP: Easy Replicant Installation via ClockworkMod Recovery possible?

Added by Ben Zin about 10 years ago

I would like to install/flash Replicant 4.0 via ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0 expects a .zip file.
The Replicant Installation Files for my Device (Samsung Tab2 7.0 WiFi [p3110]) are .img files.

If you wish, you can build Replicant for your device. But after you run parallel_tasks=$(echo "$(grep 'processor' /proc/cpuinfo | wc -l ) + 1" | bc), instead of "make -j9 bootimage", run "make -j9 bacon", which will build a zip that you can flash with CWM.

In any case, I do not recommend you install or build 4.0. We are very close to releasing Replicant 4.2, and expect to have a set of new zips for you by next week.

Thanks so far for your answers.

...Try using the "flash images" option...
Do you mean using the Fastboot tool? I used that once for rooting my android device and installing CWM. At that time I had an detailed installation guide. I think this is a strong option for me.

For me as a linux beginner it seems that this approach could be hard (especially because of the Prerequisites).
Anyway - Installing/Flashing Replicant via ClockworkMod Recovery imho would be very easy. If there's an according .zip file for all supportet devices Replicant could be increase it's distribution.

That's exactly what we will be doing in our new release, coming next week.

Well I wouldn't be as confident as saying that the next release will come next week, but at least it's supposed to.

About the topic: the previous means of installing Replicant are only possible if you use our own recovery images (which are the CWM versions matching the Android version), which has the flash images option in the main menu. As Linus said, the next batches of images will be released as zips, so it'll be possible to install them with other recovery images.
