[SOLVED] Can't install Replicant 4.2 in Galaxy S

Added by Xan VFR about 10 years ago

Hi

Thanks for releasing this new Replicant 4.2 images.

I'm trying to update my Samsung Galaxy S from Replicant 4.0 0002 to 4.2 0001

I've flashed 4.2 recovery.img succesfully, but when I try to install replicant-4.2-galaxysmtd.zip (trough SD card or via adb sideload) I get this error:

E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Failed to open last_install: No such file or directory
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update package...
E: Error in /tmp/update.zip
<--------------- via adb sideload

Installation aborted

I've wiped cache and the error about /cache/recovery/last_install dissapears. I've also wiped data/factory reseted but no success.

Redownloaded and installed replicant-4.2-galaxysmtd.zip without success:

E: Error in /external_sd/replicant-4.2-galaxysmtd.zip <--------------- via flash zip from external card

Installation aborted

Any ideas/hints on how to solve this problem?

Thnaks in advance

Funny thing I've discovered is that the external SD card is seen as internal card to install Replicant 4.0. If a take it off wiht Replicant 4.2 recovery and try to access to external SD card I can't (where I've stored Replicant images) and I can see all the directories of the programs I've installed and I saw as installed in SD card with Replicant 4.0 running (¿¡!?)

SOLVED!!

I had forgotten to install CM-10.1.3-galaxysmtd.zip first. After that, Replicant 4.2 installation went smoothly.
