Problem mounting Galaxy Tab in Download Mode

I copied over the replicant image to the internal storage without issue.
I then followed the instructions to enter download mode, and connect the device, but nothing mounts. And it doesn't show as being available to mount.
Any suggestions?
Running Trisquel 7.x.

It appears my expectations of seeing the device mounted at that point were wrong. Instead, simply using heimdall as described and trusting it to find the device was the correct move.

That's right, heimdall does not expose any kind of USB mass storage. Following the guide step by step usually works ;)
