Hello.

Thx for your great work on replicant! It is appreciated a lot!

A question for understanding: In your recent images, e.g. the Replicant 4.2 0003 image, is there the alternative SAMUNG-RIL included already and does this replace the samsung baseband that comes with the phone?

Regards

Jallo

Of course, Samsung-RIL is used on Samsung devices on Replicant, since it's the free software RIL we wrote for those devices and Replicant only include free software.
However, it is only the system-side program that handles communication with the modem. The modem (or baseband) runs its own proprietary system, as explained in details at http://www.replicant.us/freedom-privacy-security-issues.php

Thx for the clarification. Would it be possible to use the samsung ril on another rom like omnirom or cm? If I would like to test it - what files would i need to transfer to the other rom?

Of course, libsamsung-ipc and Samsung-RIL don't require any kernel-side change, only to disable the framework adaptations for the proprietary RILs.

It would be unwise to just copy files. One should build an OmniROM or CM image with Samsung-RIL included.
