Qualcomm Chip Secretly Share Private Information
Added by M V over 1 year ago
Hello everybody,
Have you heard about this: https://www.nitrokey.com/news/2023/smartphones-popular-qualcomm-chip-secretly-share-private-information-us-chip-maker ?
I was wondering if this security issue affects any of the Replicant officially supported devices. And if Replicant does prevent it in some way.
Thanks.

Hi M V,
for information, there has been some critics about this paper, here for example: https://blog.brixit.nl/nitrokey-dissapoints-me/

I have audited many Android ROMS, several times, and Replicant is the only one that doesn't make unsolicited connections, unlike others that promote they are privacy-oriented.
No calls home for updating, downloading GPS almanacs (Izatcloud or another server), setting date/time, verifying internet connection... nothing, because Replicant developers really care about privacy.
