Aeroplane mode doesn't turn off.

Added by pete mars almost 7 years ago

Hi,

I have an S2 with Replicant 6.0 installed. If have aeroplane mode on for more than a few minutes, when I try to turn aeroplane mode off it refuses to connect to a service. I can't connect manually and the option on the power menu says it is still on. When I try to turn aeroplane mode off on the power menu the option greys out and says it's off but still I get no service. Full reboot solves this but soft reboot doesn't.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any help would be great. It's not a massive issue but would be nice not to have to reboot my phone every time!

Thanks, Pete

Hi,

feel free to open an issue about this if you manage to catch a radio log when it happens (see GettingLogs). Did you use Replicant 4.2 before and was it working with that version?

If you are comfortable with the shell, you could run killall rild in the terminal app as root. This will restart the modem and a reboot wouldn't be necessary.

Thanks very much, that killall command does the trick.

I'll try to get a log of the issue. I never had 4.2 on this phone so don't know if it would work.

Thanks again
Pete

Happened to me once that I couldn't switch off airplane mode and I had no signal.

In my case it was because of a corrupted /efs partition (or directory). Fortunately I had a backup (it happened to me before and I learned the lesson the hard way).

So... Backup /efs now! Just in case ;-)

Can confirm that I have been having the same problem on my S2 running Replicant 6.

After using the killall rild command a few times, it now seems to have mostly righted itself and only occasionally requires a modem restart. Curious. I haven't been able to get a log yet as the problem rarely happens now.
