Battery drops to 1% then goes back up (Samsung Galaxy SII)

Added by M M over 6 years ago

I just installed Replicant on my Galaxy SII and I'm experiencing weird battery issues. When I'm using it very lightly (just making some to-do lists in Simpletask) the battery drops super fast (around 40%/hour), then at some point the phone switches off. When I turn it on, it says that the battery is only a few % full, but after a couple restarts it is usually back to around 40%. At that point, it usually works for a few minutes and shuts itself down again. The phone used to work fine with the stock ROM.

The only other thing I think could be causing the issue is the fact that I have replaced the USB board just before installing Replicant (the phone was charging up fine, but the computer would not detect it), so I may have messed something up when I was putting the phone back together. I'll disassemble the device today and put it back together again, but I doubt that this is the source of my problem.

Any ideas what could be causing it? I'm considering ordering a replacement battery, do you think that could solve the issue?

I'm not an expert, but it sounds plausible that replacing the battery could fix it. At the least, it would narrow down the possible causes, so if it's not too expensive for you, I'd say go for it.

It did fix the problem. It's just that I did a lot of modifications at the same time to a phone which lay unused for quite a while and I had no way to narrow down what the problem was. Now I'm a proud Replicant user.
