Problem: screen disabled during calls

Added by user replicant almost 6 years ago

When I place a phone call or whatsapp call the screen turns off. Ok, most phones do this, but I can't get it to turn on again. Because of this I can't use speaker phone, dialpad, or even hang up the call. Is there a way to disable the screen turning off when the phone is activated?

I don't think this has anything to do with Replicant. It's most likely a failed or dirty proximity sensor. Every time you make a call it thinks its against your ear and the screen will turn dark and won't turn back on. If you are lucky you can clean the sensor with an air compressor, if you're not so lucky you'll have to replace the phone.

Thanks, but that doesn't really answer the question "Is there a way to disable screen blanking on calls?" Like for example defaulting to speakerphone.
