Full backup

Added by Daniel Alsace over 3 years ago

Hello,

I want to backup all the phone, and restore the backup on an other phone.

I have a samsung S3 i9300, with the 6.003. I installed on a other phone the replicant-6.0-0004-rc5-i9300.zip

And wanted to backup from the S3 with 003 to the S3 with the replicant-6.0-0004-rc5-i9300

adb backup and adb restore don't work.
I must have exactly the same version? both with 003?

oandbackup doesn't work.

Hi Daniel,
would it be possible to install on your new phone a 0003 and then update it to 0004-rc5 using https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/MinorVersionUpgrade ?

PS : I did not understood dd.

dd if=/dev/phone1 of=/dev/phone2 will be great to backup easily

minor upgrade don't work, it says signature failing.

I can install 003 on the other phone…!

how can I do?

Signature failing is a common error that appears when you try to flash a new version without updating its Recovery before.

Ok, I downgrade one of the phone… I don't know how to update the recovery

The adb backup command is really not efficient, I don't know why it doesn't backup everything…!

I must manually backup a lot of things, and other bugs appear…

I downgraded the other phone to have same replicant versions, though.

Do you just want to backup the data partition? If so, you should be able to follow this guide: https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/BackupTheDataPartition

I've backed up my data partition from one phone and then transferred it to another before and it worked well.

I'm happy with that, it's amazing.
