Currently, the only way to determine whether one is using Replicant 0003 instead of 0002 is by looking at the Build date. This isn't intuitive and makes it hard for users to determine if they have the most recent stable release. We should fix this for our 0004 release.
Replicant - Issue #1914 (Resolved): index.html copyrights of git.replicant.ushttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/19142019-03-07T00:15:12ZDenis 'GNUtoo' CarikliGNUtoo@cyberdimension.org

I've added it as a bug report not to forget about it.

The index.html has no copyrights.

Possible fixes:

contact Wolfgang Wiedmeyer

He has a similar page on his website, look at the copyrights and re-do it from there

re-do it from scratch

consider that it's non-copyrightable work.

Denis.
Replicant - Feature #1903 (Resolved): Implement a lookup settings reset when Dialer app is first runhttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/19032018-12-31T11:28:03ZFil Bergamofil.bergamo@riseup.net

This is related to issue #1827, that is solved in the new release of Replicant 6.0.
To solve the issue in already-installed environments, the Dialer app should be patched to do the following when it is run for the first time after a system upgrade:

- Reset all settings regarding lookup anti-features to "Disabled"
- Keep track of the one-time-change in the shared settings SQLite database
- Leave settings unchanged during subsequent runs, to allow users to adjust them as they wish.
Upstreaming patches - Feature #1882 (Closed): Replicant based on mainline Linux for Midas boardshttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/18822018-06-05T16:04:03ZJoonas Kylmälä

Forkbomb, Wolfie and many others have been working on mainlining the kernel for Midas boards (Samsung Galaxy S3, Note, etc.). We want to have Replicant running using that.

Current progress on the kernel can be seen here: https://blog.forkwhiletrue.me/pages/midas-mainline/

Putti/Joonas is making it work with the latest AOSP master branch. So far it boots and graphics & touch work. After the devices work with AOSP master (maybe weeks, months or years) the work needs to be rebased to the latest LineageOS version. Then the binaries need to be removed and Replicant artwork added.

Current development version can be downloaded with this command:
repo init -u git://git.putti.eu/aosp/manifest_i9305.git -b master

Replicant - Feature #1794 (Resolved): Use free hardware composer for smdk4412 deviceshttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/17942017-04-24T14:09:56ZWolfgang Wiedmeyerwreg@wiedmeyer.de

Javi Ferrer developed a free hardware composer for Exynos 4. It is part of NamelessRom:
https://github.com/NamelessRom/android_hardware_samsung/commit/90ce74afc13c8265673bc90bedeb8bc8a17f5497
https://github.com/NamelessRom/android_hardware_samsung/commit/999f31969533a8042726489e957b3dc3c927851a
https://github.com/NamelessRom/android_hardware_samsung/commit/a133ba7dd102fa3d2db3141f35fedd13b88afd14
Other Gralloc-related commits might be needed as well.

The implementation depends on a change in the smdk4412 kernel:
https://github.com/NamelessRom/android_kernel_samsung_smdk4412/commit/f1c6163ac1896e5d92b77a45d882d0564f060206

Furthermore, the NamelessRom smdk4412 kernel was rebased on the Note 2 kernel sources. This rebase was not done for the LineageOS kernel and thus is not included in the Replicant kernel. It needs to be investigated if the required changes can be backported, at least for the Samsung video drivers in
drivers/video/samsung
.

The free hardware composer is also not yet part of LineageOS. Development on their part can be tracked on their Gerrit, e.g.:
https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/167147/

Replicant 6.0 currently does not make use of FIMG, Replicant 4.2 has some code in skia:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_external_skia/commit/647876b665f2cf011e75adc6ff2238d467c47635

A newer skia commit to make use of FIMG2D:
https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/61162/

Integrating these hardware composer changes could make it possible to use the integrated 2D graphics unit (FIMG2D) for compositing which could improve graphics speed significantly on Replicant. It should work at least on the Galaxy S 3 and Note 2, but it should be possible to make it work for the Galaxy S 2 and Note, too.
