Redmine Replicant - Issue #2338 (New): Camera faulthttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23382023-12-10T19:34:20ZFirst Last

There's video camera doesn't work. On start button it freezes and after half a minute begins to make video, but file can't be read. Also it often goes for reboot prior to start recording.
Replicant - Issue #2337 (New): Bad system image for n7100https://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23372023-10-28T19:26:56Zaleutian neminem

I tried to migrate to another GT-I9300 as described here: [[https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/BackupTheDataPartition]]

When I did a full backup of /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 on the source GT-I9300:
$ adb pull /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name/USERDATA ./USERDATA.img

The target device GT-I9300 is fresh installed and resetted to factory defaults.

After restoring USERDATA.img:
$ adb push USERDATA.img /dev/block/mmcblk0p12

Everything works except the mobile network. The sim card is detected and can receive sms messages, but there is no cellular network when:
$ svc data enable

If I do a full factory reset on the target device, the cellular network works again. How do I get the cellular network working again after restoring the USERDATA.img ?
Replicant - Issue #2335 (New): Look into "git config format.subjectPrefix"https://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23352023-03-17T22:56:00ZDenis 'GNUtoo' CarikliGNUtoo@cyberdimension.orgReplicant - Issue #2333 (New): Cannot remove wallpaperhttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23332023-01-18T20:07:52ZJohn R

Trying to remove wallpaper (set it to none) on Tab 2 10.1 results in a short error message and the wallpaper is not removed.

Just for comparison: the same works fine on Galaxy S3 i9300
Replicant - Feature #2332 (New): Integrate DNSCrypt by defaulthttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23322023-01-18T20:03:38ZJohn R

Considering the security and privacy benefits of DNSCrypt, it would be great to have dnscrypt-proxy as default DNS system on Replicant. Then one can customize just the config files if necessary.

I have tried to do this myself but I am facing technical difficulties as I am not an Android expert. There is an issue on GitHub:

https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/issues/2269
Replicant - Issue #2331 (New): Color temperature and gamma settings don't workhttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23312023-01-18T19:51:51ZJohn R

I notice that whatever settings I use for color temperature or gamma, the screen appearance does not change.

Tested on Galaxy S3 i9300 and Tab 2 10.1 wifi.
Replicant - Issue #2330 (New): Improve recovery UIhttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23302023-01-18T19:46:42ZJohn R

I have installed Replicant 6.0 0004 on Galaxy S3 and on Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. The UI of the recovery mode is really bad. Some examples:

1. Extremely small fonts on huge empty spaces.

Suggestion: Increase font size and weight. Use a readable font type.

2. Anti-usability in color choice:

- red on gray (and vice versa) is a taboo in UI design. Dark blue on black is another very bad choice. This worsens readability very much.

Suggestion: Use bright color on black background.
Good UI means good contrast and easy readability.

3. Tapping on a menu is awkward. It takes the user to another menu instantly and right under one's finger tip there is another menu choice which one can easily tap and activate involuntarily. This can be dangerous, especially in a critical mode when one installs software.

Suggestion: Introduce a slight delay and visual feedback for tapping.

Note: I don't know if "download" mode can be modified but it is very bad too. I need a magnifying glass to read the text.
Documentation - Issue #2329 (New): Outdated build documentationhttps://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23292023-01-18T19:31:10ZJohn R

I have been struggling to build Replicant 6 as described in the current documentation because I could not find any other way to make changes to sepolicy.

I followed the instructions given here:

https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/GenericReplicant60Build

In dependencies installation:

https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/Replicant60BuildDependenciesInstallation

I see Debian 9 (stretch) - an old, discontinued OS. I used Debian 11 in a VM. The `repo sync` took many many hours - a whole 34 GiB were downloaded. Unfortunately, some of the dependency packages don't seem to exist on Debian 11: eclipse-jdt, libandroidsdk-ddmlib-java, libandroidsdk-sdklib-java and one more. Also, there is no 'llvm-defaults', there is llvm. I think there were some other differences too. The given commands also don't work literally - I had to install the packages one by one. Pasting the whole lines from the doc didn't work. Anyway, I tried my best to set up this environment.

Then, in step 'Building the toolchain':

https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/GenericReplicant60Build#Building-the-toolchain

I ran:

./vendor/replicant/build-toolchain

The process starts but fails with a linker error somewhere at 4% (something related to LLVM, IIRC). I looked all over the web for this error but couldn't find a way to fix it. The "self-contained version or repo" didn't work either. Even `make clobber`, `make clean` and `make tcclean` don't work (errors).

I hope someone can update the docs, so one can build Replicant using an up-to-date OS.
Replicant - Issue #2328 (New): libsamsung-ipc: OpenSSL 1.x is deprecated + OpenSSL 3.x license in...https://redmine.replicant.us/issues/23282022-12-30T02:25:36ZDenis 'GNUtoo' CarikliGNUtoo@cyberdimension.org
