Description

I have installed replicant-6.0-i9300 and I get no mobile service. This
issue is opened new as advised by Wolfgang
https://redmine.replicant.us/issues/1783#note-13. The issue persist. I
am attaching logs for main and radio buffer encrypted with Wolfgang
and Paul keys. Logs are taken with and without the SIM installed.

The situation is the same as before that I get no mobile service on
the I19300 device. Using the same SIM card on an emergency device
works.

The notification on the phone is stating that there is no SIM. It
says: "No SIM card -- No service"

What can I try next?

Looks similar to #1605 when looking at the logs, but could also be completely unrelated. If I understand correctly from what you wrote elsewhere, it worked for some time with Replicant 4.2 and then stopped working with Replicant 4.2?

One or two messages come through from the modem, but then communication fails and the modem is rebooted. Does it work with LineageOS? If it works with LineageOS, could you attach radio log and dmesg from LineageOS?
I'm lowering the priority for now because it's not yet sure that it's a bug in Replicant. It could also be some kind of hardware failure if it suddenly stopped working.

That is correct. The phone has been working excellent for a long time
on Replicant 4.2. Then suddenly it stopped just some time before my
writings elsewhere.

I understand the advise now is to try LineageOS. If that fails in
similar ways I guess we would think this is a hardware failure. I will
do so and report back.

Installed LineageOS lineage-14.1-20170607 and I can now make calls. Attaching dmesg and radio as requested. The sim card remain the same. The logs are with sim installed and phone operational. Tell me if the dmesg need to be logged earlier, I was a bit slow with it, but logs are done early after a restart.

Please post the output of

adb root
adb shell ls -al /efs

Do you have a backup of the efs partition from a point in time where it still worked with Replicant?

Sorry for delay, see attached the output as requested. I am afraid I have no backup of the efs partition, I am lousy at backups.

The efs output looks fine. You could try to install Replicant 6.0 again. Sometimes, booting the device once with LineageOS/CyanogenMod can fix such issues.

Ok, I will consider.

I have a friend with the same model that he don't use anymore (S3 I9300), it is intact he say and mine has a crack in the glass. He said that I could probably buy his one for a low cost. I am considering that and I have asked him on email if this can happen.

If it will happen I would like to offer the device I have with this mysterious problem to the Replicant project. Would that be of interest?

If anyone is interested, I've added some logs in Issue #1824 which I think is related to this one.
