The bug #1925 reported that Bluetooth appeared to work on several devices with Replicant 6.0.

I've confirmed that I'm able to use bluetooth on Replicant 6.0 on the Galaxy SII and a Galaxy Nexus, without adding any nonfree firmware or software.

I've validated it by:
  • scanning and successfully finding nearby devices that also have bluetooth.
  • configuring and using successfully a bluetooth keyboard with the Android settings. I was able to type text with that and I had no reliability issues so far.

This applies also to the Galaxy Note (N7000)

I can confirm that bluetooth works without nonfree firmware on i9100.
Additionally, installing nonfree firmware renders bluetooth not working.
Uninstalling the nonfree firmware makes bluetooth work again.

Should we be recommending that people not use Bluetooth, even if there is no nonfree firmware installed, because we don't know why it is working? Or is it ok to recommend it?

Today I accidentally turn on Bluetooth in my i9100 and I was shocked to find it was working. I am also curious to know whether a non free driver/firmware is being used. Thank you.

My mistake, in bug #1925 mentioned above it is farther explain whether or not it may be using all free software or not. Thank you.
