Issue #1940
closedHave 'Replicant version' under 'About phone' say Replicant 6.0 0004 for next release
90%
Description
Currently, the only way to determine whether one is using Replicant 0003 instead of 0002 is by looking at the Build date. This isn't intuitive and makes it hard for users to determine if they have the most recent stable release. We should fix this for our 0004 release.

Something to change here I think: https://git.replicant.us/replicant/vendor_replicant/tree/config/common.mk#n243. Will submit a patch tomorrow.

GNUtoo made a wiki page to help people identify what pre-6.0 0004 version they are running: https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/wiki/ImagesIdentification/

The patch has been acked-by:
https://lists.osuosl.org/pipermail/replicant/2019-October/002221.html
All we need to do is to apply it and add it to the Replicant 6.0 0004 tag

We have been updating a fair number of last minute things for 0004 so we should likely review and update the change log on this patch before pushing it. The change log currently includes the following:
Common:
Security updates until August 2018
Per app renderer selection
Fix privacy issue with phone number lookup functionality in the Dialer app
Wi-Fi integrated to system settings, replaces RepWifi
F-Droid removed because it was not compliant with FSDG
Experimental support for USB ethernet adapters

It might be helpful to take a peek at this list of issues that have been closed since the 6.0 0003 release to make sure we didn't miss anything big in our change log: https://redmine.replicant.us/projects/replicant/issues?c%5B%5D=tracker&c%5B%5D=status&c%5B%5D=priority&c%5B%5D=subject&c%5B%5D=assigned_to&c%5B%5D=updated_on&c%5B%5D=category&c%5B%5D=cf_21&f%5B%5D=status_id&f%5B%5D=fixed_version_id&f%5B%5D=&group_by=&op%5Bfixed_version_id%5D=%21&op%5Bstatus_id%5D=c&set_filter=1&sort=updated_on%3Adesc%2Cid%3Adesc&t%5B%5D=&utf8=%E2%9C%93&v%5Bfixed_version_id%5D%5B%5D=39

We can close that bug as it is now documented as part of the release procedure in the vendor/replicant-release-scripts repository.
